“(Darkness) cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit or There and Back Again

It seems darkness is slowly beginning to envelope this old world. I say “old” because, as a Christian, I believe there is a new world coming. Yeah, I know, I’m a zealot. Sue me.

Martin Luther King JR said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.”  Some define “darkness” as anxiety, while for others it’s “depression.” One may call her darkness “hatred” while another calls his “bigotry.” Depending on the person, “darkness” equals poverty, chronic pain, suicidal tendencies and a host of other physical, mental, financial and spiritual ailments. Regardless of how your darkness is defined, however, I am here to let you know one thing:

The light of Christ chases away all darkness and shadows!

That’s what my ministry, Demonkill Ministries, is all about. Emily Dickinson eloquently wrote, “One need not be a chamber to be haunted.” I know I’ve been haunted by many things, but in my pursuit of LIGHT, God grants me a semblance of peace. Shadows still haunt, sometimes creeping in, other times trying to swallow me up with storm clouds, rolling and thundering deep in my spirit. At the end of the day, however, hope wins. Love wins. Redemption wins.

GOD WINS.

The light of Christ is our only hope. Darkness may win the occasional battle, but will eventually lose the war. So keep hope alive, and seek the light. Don’t give up, keep pressing in, and you will survive. One day, the absence of light may threaten to destroy your entire existence, and it is in THAT moment you have only one option:

Cry out to God. He is the only way out of this life “alive.”

“In my distress I cried out to the Lordyes, I prayed to my God for help.  He heard me from His sanctuary; my cry to Him reached His ears.” (Psalm 18:6)

Following are 10 Bible verses I’ve compiled on God’s power of light to overcome darkness, both in our soul and in this wicked world as a whole.

“For it is You who light my lamp; the Lord my God lights up my darkness.” (Psalm 18:28)

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:2)

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” (Isaiah 42:16)

“Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79)

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

Jesus said, “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness.” (John 12:46)

Jesus said, “The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” (Matthew 4:16)

“For though once your heart was full of darkness, now it is full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it!” (Ephesians 5:8)

“For God, Who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.” (II Corinthians 4:6)

“This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5)

Never give up, never give in, never surrender!

Blessings.

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, we are making it. Hope you and all yours are doing okay. I feel that so many of us are just accepting any negativity, whether it be circumstances or emotions, without even combating it with the Word of God.

Yes, I believe you are right. I don’t know how one gets through the day without turning to His light. So much darkness surrounding us. You post is as timely today as it was when you posted in November. 😊

Again, thanks so much for the feedback, and I agree with you. I must admit, when I write blog after blog after blog, and get two or three likes if I’m lucky, it gets a bit discouraging at times. I have to constantly remind myself, Jesus left the 99 to retrieve the one. That “one” is who I write for!

Absolutely! I know I can feel the same way. I have to remind myself I only have to please the One. It is Jesus department on what He does with the seed. I’m reminded of when Paul shares, Apollo planted, Paul watered but God gives the growth 🌱🌻 Keep planting! The Bride is readying herself for the Bridegroom 🙏💕

I found your blog today while researching verses about God’s LIGHT. My 14 year old nephew took his own life on 2-3-23. Your words will bring comfort and understanding. Thank you for sharing your story. I will share with others.

First of all, I would like to apologize for just now seeing and approving your comment. We’ve had a rough year, and have lost 5 family members since June, 2022. Secondly, I am so very sorry about your nephew. Suicide leaves such a huge, gaping hole. Please know my family and I will be praying for you guys!

Keep doing what your doing…yes the 1 Jesus went out to get. If we make a difference in just one life and one person sees but never goes to tell of their healing…you know the story…then the seed is still planted and produces a beautiful garden with eternal fruit. This is where your treasures are stored. In that ” New World” with our Savior who holds your crown of life. Bless you brother from another sister in Christ.

So true! Sorry for taking almost a month to approve this comment, WordPress doesn’t have a great system in place to inform bloggers of notifications. Regarding the blog, I’m one of those people who are compelled by the Holy Spirit to be 100%, brutally honest, even when I’d rather stay silent. But Revelation 12:11 reminds me I’m doing the right thing. Thanks so much for the comment!
