What’s Holding You Back?
Is something holding you back from loving with all your heart, and if so, what are you afraid of? Since telling stories is what I love to do the most in this life, allow me to give you access to a conversation between my wife and I, from nearly 30 years ago, that, up to now, nobody else but her and I were privy to. It’s difficult for me to be so vulnerable, but I feel there are many people who are holding back in life, terrified of being hurt. As far as I’m concerned, however, life is a beautiful, amazing, breath-taking adventure, and I'm all in.

My Children are my Heroes – Part 1: Jess
My daughter went from the gifted program and graduating high school early to drug abuse, only to fight her way back, graduate at the top of her nursing class and get a job with hospice. Her message to all the young girls who find themselves in the same position she was? “You CAN make a life for yourself, by putting one foot in front of the other, walking the path God has for your life. It’s your choice. All of life is based on choices, and it’s time to start making the right ones.”

The Cancer of Unforgiveness
To achieve emotional health, you must forgive, even if what someone did to you was criminal, heinous. Forgiving isn't excusing what they DID; it's letting go of a potentially deadly emotion which, if left unattended, will destroy you.

Take a Break and Laugh
I have been through a great amount of pain, depression and bitterness, but sometimes ya just gotta laugh. Thus, I thought I'd change directions today and just post some of my favorite memes. Some of these I created myself and others are from Google. I hope at least a few of them make ya smile.

“Live,” says Death. “I am coming.”
We have to make peace with the fact that someday our time on this Earth will be over. We must live our lives within that framework, realizing how fleeting life can be. We can’t dwell on death; no, we must dwell on LIFE, friends. That's not depressing to me, it's a fact. The reality of death should not make tomorrow look grim; it should make today look beautiful.

We Often Suffer, But Are Never Crushed
One of the many things I've learned is I'm stronger than I ever give myself credit for. We must accept the fact that our current adversity may slow us down but it'll never stop us. As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

You’re a Candle in the Dark
People are literally dying of loneliness, and we have the (super)power of love and laughter on our side. Even a quick visit, note or phone call, just to let someone know you’re thinking about them, can make a colossal difference. There is a great chance you’ll be a flicker of light in an otherwise bleak day. After all, a candle doesn’t seem to give off much light until you carry it into the pitch of black, right?

Don’t Let Pain Turn Your Heart to Stone
God's intention is not for agony to transform our heart to stone. Life is a beautiful thing, just waiting to be discovered. We need to stop playing the victim, and try and serve others, instead of demanding to be served, and heard. If you've let your struggles make you so self-absorbed you have no time to comfort others, you're long overdue for a change.
