A Memorandum to the Bearers of the Flame

“Fear and trembling overwhelm me,
and I can’t stop shaking.
Oh, that I had wings like a dove;
then I would fly away and rest!
I would fly far away
to the quiet of the wilderness.
How quickly I would escape—
far from this wild storm of hatred.” Psalm 55:5-8

My name is Crylo, and I am a Guardian to the Bearers of the Flame; a warrior angel of the VIKN tribe, assigned the task of guarding the ones who preach the Gospel of Christ.

I take great pride in my mission, and carry it out with vigor.

Humanity is, for the most part, blissfully unaware of my presence, or that of my fellow servants. Typically, a Follower of the Way would have no contact with me until their human body expires and they pass through the veil of eternity. Our Creator God has charged me with an unusual task, however, and it is my pleasure to do His will. The Lord on High asked me to pen a brief memorandum, specifically to those for whom it is my honor to safeguard.

The delivery method of the Sacred Word comes in a variety of forms, fashions and styles, but the gist is the same: a Blood-covered child of the Living Christ dedicates themselves to spreading the Good News to those to whom God has sent them. Concerning the Messenger, race, sex, culture and methodology matter NOT, so long as they keep their focus on our Risen Lord Jesus!

To the explicit purpose of this document, however, I would like to briefly address the heart of our Creator on what should be the primary objective of the Bearers of the Flame. Word-Carriers make much more out of this than needed, compelling themselves to attempt to gain “results” as they see them.

Their muddled ambitions are usually a “numbers,” game, as in, “How many people did my message reach tonight?” or “How much money did we make?”

It is understandable how their attentions can shift, especially in these, the last days. Our enemy, Lucifer, that old serpent, is storming the gates with more ferocity than ever before, knowing his time is short. May the Lord rebuke the Devil’s efforts.

What the Living God wishes to convey to the Bearers of the Flame, though, is that, while our enemy’s game may be measured in numbers, ours is not. For humans, “success,” if we can use this word, in ministry boils down to the following:

Are you following our God’s commands?

Are you walking with the Risen Christ on a daily basis?

When the Living God laid out His plans for you today, did you carry them out?

If the response to each of these questions is “yes,” then you can rest easy, my friend. Our Creator and Lord cries, “Well done, good and faithful servant!

I implore you, don’t lose your focus. Your task has nothing to do with “numbers.” Whether you conversed with one person or many, your assignment is to carry the Flame, that is, the Light of Christ, into the darkness. He is the light of the world. Whoever follows Him will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (John 8:12).

Ye Keepers of the Holy Word, if you deny yourself this day, take up your cross and follow Him (Matthew 16:24), then your mission is being accomplished! Worry yourself NOT with the results, as you see them. Our Risen Jesus left the 99 to save the one, and this should be your goal as well. Do as He commands and leave it at that. For if someone claims to know our Living God, but doesn’t obey His commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in truth (I John 2:3-4).

At the end of the day, if you can share with our friend Job in saying these words, you may take solace in your efforts:

“For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside.” (Job 23:11)

Please know, He sees your exhaustion; He feels your anxiety and weariness. The Living God is not blind to your fatigue, at times bordering on breakdown. He loves you more than your human mind can ever comprehend, and He is proud to shout your name into the pitch of Lucifer’s darkness, making it known far and wide, you are a child of the Creator God! Oh, how the fallen ones tremble at this!

As for me and my kindred spirit warriors, how many times we have longed to make our presence known to you! How many nights we desire to wipe your tears, and give you a glimpse into the eternal, into the sheer numbers of angel servants at your disposal!

Alas, most times we cannot reveal ourselves in this manner, but what a blessing this is for you! The first disciples of the Risen Christ seen Him in the flesh, but how much more blessed are you who believe without seeing Him (John 20:29)!

Please understand how very proud all of Heaven is of you, and how we are all rooting for you! You are pressed on every side by troubles, but are not crushed. You are perplexed, but not driven to despair. You are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. You get knocked down, but are never destroyed. Through suffering, your bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of the Risen Christ may also be seen in your bodies! What an honor!

Yes, some of you live under constant danger of death because you serve Jesus. You continue to preach, however, because you have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.” Please know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise you!

That is why you must never give up. Though your bodies are dying, your spirits are being renewed every day. I am a living witness to the fact that your present troubles are small and won’t last very long, yet they produce for you a glory which vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So, ye Messengers of the Hallowed Promise, don’t look at the troubles you can see now; rather, fix your gaze on things that cannot be seen! For the things you see now will soon be gone, but the things you cannot see will last forever (2 Corinthians 4:8-18).

While there is much more to be said, I shall have to save it for when you and I meet face-to-face. Until then, I pray the Living Christ bless and keep you…
