My daughter went from the gifted program and graduating high school early to drug abuse, only to fight her way back, graduate at the top of her nursing class and get a job with hospice.
Her message to all the young girls who find themselves in the same position she was? “You CAN make a life for yourself, by putting one foot in front of the other, walking the path God has for your life. It’s your choice. All of life is based on choices, and it’s time to start making the right ones.”
To achieve emotional health, you must forgive, even if what someone did to you was criminal, heinous. Forgiving isn't excusing what they DID; it's letting go of a potentially deadly emotion which, if left unattended, will destroy you.
I have been through a great amount of pain, depression and bitterness, but sometimes ya just gotta laugh. Thus, I thought I'd change directions today and just post some of my favorite memes. Some of these I created myself and others are from Google. I hope at least a few of them make ya smile.
We have to make peace with the fact that someday our time on this Earth will be over. We must live our lives within that framework, realizing how fleeting life can be. We can’t dwell on death; no, we must dwell on LIFE, friends. That's not depressing to me, it's a fact. The reality of death should not make tomorrow look grim; it should make today look beautiful.
I come from a long line of warriors, determined to fight the agony of that darkness which seeks to devour our entire existence, until God gives us permission to lay down our weapons. Quitting is not an option. We've slowed down, sure, but we won't stop.
For you see, victory is the only dream worth pursuing.
I went through a period of a few months when I literally felt I was going insane, simply because of pain and its residual effects. I’d love to tell you I’ve found some magical cure or pill for this problem. I haven’t. All I have is a stubborn resolve to never give up.
People are literally dying of loneliness, and we have the (super)power of love and laughter on our side. Even a quick visit, note or phone call, just to let someone know you’re thinking about them, can make a colossal difference. There is a great chance you’ll be a flicker of light in an otherwise bleak day.
After all, a candle doesn’t seem to give off much light until you carry it into the pitch of black, right?
God's intention is not for agony to transform our heart to stone. Life is a beautiful thing, just waiting to be discovered. We need to stop playing the victim, and try and serve others, instead of demanding to be served, and heard. If you've let your struggles make you so self-absorbed you have no time to comfort others, you're long overdue for a change.
We can CHOOSE to be happy; we don't have to let people or circumstances choose our moods for us. Don’t cling to your gloom and despair like a tattered life raft; instead, swim for the shore, spread out the Spiderman beach towel, grab your sunscreen and enjoy the sunshine.
