“I Whisper a Prayer”
By Rob Weddle

I whisper a prayer for the hurting and broken
For heartbreaking needs that as yet are unspoken

I whisper a prayer for those disillusioned
All we tired souls who are steeped in confusion

I whisper a prayer for the damaged and lonely
Who torture ourselves with “if only…if only…”

I whisper a prayer for the endless depressed
Break through with Your love! Hold us close to Your breast!

I whisper a prayer for the cheerless afflicted
The heartsick and angry, the sad and addicted

I whisper a prayer for the spirit forsaken
I beg you, oh God, let their heart reawaken!

I whisper a prayer for the grim suicidal
The one whose dark mind’s never quiet or idle

I whisper a prayer for the one reading this
Cast all of their shadows deep in the abyss!

I whisper a prayer for those, like myself
Who ask not for beauty or glory or wealth

I whisper a prayer: let despair be released!
Quiet our minds
We beg mercy

…and peace
